The Republic of Benin (formerly known as Dahomey) is a Presidential Republic in West Africa. It shares a border with Nigeria, Togo, Burkina Faso and Niger.
Benin’s economy is largely informal with informal re-export and transit trade to Nigeria accounting for over 65% of the economy and 90% of the country’s labour.

In December 2016, the newly elected government adopted the development program ‘Programme d’Actions du Gouvernement 2016-2022’ which is built around 45 flagship projects aimed at improving economic productivity and the social conditions of the population.
