The Republic of Gambia is located in West Africa and shares a border with Senegal.

Following a bloodless coup in 1994, President Yahya Jammeh ruled until 2016 when he was defeated in an election by Adama Barrow.

The economy is heavily dependent on tourism and rain-dependent agriculture.
