  • Development Agenda

The Republic of Djibouti is located in the Horn of Africa. It is a small country that shares a border with Somalia, Eritrea and Ethiopia. Its strategic location as the gateway to the Suez Canal has made it a popular location for military bases and port services which are its main sources of income. Due to a lack of arable land and low rainfall, Djibouti has a chronic food deficit and is reliant on foreign imports to meet its food needs. Poverty and unemployment are ongoing challenges.
