The Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development will allow participants to discuss issues related to sustainable development following the adoption last year of Agenda 2030 to replace the millennium development goals. The meeting, which will be held in collaboration with the Government of Egypt, will bring together high-level experts from member states, representatives from inter-governmental organizations, the private sector, civil society organizations (CSOs) as well as international development partners, among others.

The 2016 Annual Meetings will take place from Monday, May 23 to Friday, May 27, 2016 in Lusaka, Zambia. The theme of this year’s meetings is “Energy and Climate Change,” and draws on one of the Bank’s ‘High 5’ priority areas, namely to “Light up and Power Africa.” It also reflects the Bank’s New Deal on Energy and the key resolutions from the recent UN climate talks (COP21) on global warming.
