The AFTRA TEACHING AND LEARNING IN AFRICA CONFERENCE AND 8TH ROUNDTABLE, MAY 22-26, 2017 (KINGDOM OF LESOTHO 2017)
AFTRA hereby announces the 6th Teaching and Learning in Africa Conference and 8th Roundtable scheduled for May 22-26, 2017 in Lesotho.
The Conference provides opportunities for exchange of best practices between AFTRA (the regulators of the teaching profession in Africa) and members of the global community particularly the academia, Information and Communication Technology experts, employers of teachers, teachers unions, governments, international development partners, non-governmental organisations, and the general public.
The Roundtable serves as the AFTRA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) and holds after the conference. The Roundtable is open to all AFTRA member organisations which include the teaching regulatory agencies, teacher education institutions, teachers unions, international development partners and civil society organisations. Also, AFTRA is the Africa Regional Branch of the International (World) Forum of Teaching Regulatory Authorities (IFTRA www.iftra.org), therefore, the AGM is equally open for delegates from the world body.
The World Energy Congress, being World Energy Council’s global flagship event is the premier international, multi-energy forum for participants to better understand energy issues and solutions from a global perspective. The 23rd World Energy Congress will be held in Istanbul at October 9-13, 2016. The main theme for Congress “Embracing New Frontiers” promises an innovative concept and content.
The 7th ANIE Conference follows up on the outcomes of the 3rd and 6th ANIE Conference held in Abuja, Nigeria in 2010 and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in 2015, respectively. In these conferences emphasis was put on university partnerships for knowledge generation and development, and also as an important strategy for realizing the global Sustainable Development Goals that were promulgated in 2015. The conference will bring more insights into (i) the drivers and challenges of international partnerships (both South-South and North-South partnerships) in higher education in Africa (ii) the nature and forms of existing international partnerships (iii) the role they play in knowledge production and sustainable development (iv) gaps and opportunities that exist to initiate and sustain partnerships for development.
Jointly organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the African Economic Conference (AEC) 2016 will take place in Abuja, Nigeria, from December 5 to 7, 2016 under the following theme: “Feeding Africa: Towards Agro-Allied Industrialization for Inclusive Growth. This theme is timely and in line with the current African and international development agenda.
